Top 10 reasons you should partner with the California Community Foundation:

We’re experienced. We have served Los Angeles County for 92 years. The charitable funds we manage for more than 1,400 individual, family and corporate donors make up a total endowment of more than $1 billion. Each year, CCF gives out more than $100 million in grants to invest in the future of our local communities.

Giving made easy. Philanthropy is important work, but it doesn't’t need to be hard work. Some people create a private family foundation to pursue their philanthropic goals. But for many others, a donor advised fund at the California Community Foundation is a fast and easy way to give. A donor advised fund provides the best features of a private family foundation without the legal and administrative burdens.

We know philanthropy. We are experts when it comes to giving to granting to including family in your work. We can help create the best giving plan and vehicle based on your charitable goals, giving level and time available for philanthropy.

Personalized services. Most commercial gift funds have charitable check-writing services like those offered at CCF, but none provides the range of personalized donor services that we do, including customized research on an organization or issue area, how to involve your family in your charitable work, individual meetings to discuss your philanthropic goals, special donor events, nonprofit site visits and more. We welcome any question you may have on how to achieve your philanthropic goals.

No gift is too complex. Do you want to establish your fund with real estate or closely held stock? Most commercial gift funds and smaller nonprofits cannot accept or manage complicated gifts, while CCF has done so for many years. We do not place restrictions on the number of grants that you can make to the charities you support.

More bang for your buck. Our charitable giving options provide maximum tax benefits at a very low cost. A donor advised fund is far less expensive to create and operate than a private family foundation, and it offers greater tax benefits. Compare a donor advised fund to a private foundation.

We’re financially sound. Our assets are invested by some of the nation’s most outstanding financial management firms. The Investment Committee of our board reviews each fund manager’s performance on a quarterly basis to ensure that equity-fixed ratios are maintained prudently and changed as circumstances require, and that total return meets the foundation’s growth objectives.

We know L.A. We are based in Los Angeles County, and we know the needs of our local communities. If you choose to create an unrestricted or field of interest fund, you will be contributing to making your home — Los Angeles — a better place to live. We have been working in the Los Angeles community for nearly 100 years. Whether your passion lies in the arts, human development, education, health care, affordable housing, or one of our many other areas of expertise, we use our knowledge of the nonprofit world to connect you to charitable programs that address the topics you are passionate about — both in our community and around the country.[

We have local oversight by community leaders. The foundation’s board of directors provides stewardship for all its funds. Serving without compensation, the directors approve grants, guide and review investment performance and oversee the foundation’s operations.

We’re here for the long haul. As caretakers of funds that will long outlast their donors, we understand the nature of a permanent legacy. We expect that donors will create funds designed to last well into the future. And if someday the need for the fund no longer exists, our board of directors will find the nearest possible use for the money.
