Civic Engagement
For more information about this topic, contact Director of Civic Engagement Virginia Mosqueda at (213) 413-4130.

The California Community Foundation (CCF) established civic engagement as a foundation-wide priority to make a positive impact in addressing the complex social issues facing our region. The purpose is to expand CCF’s role of grantmaker to that of convener, facilitator and problem-solver. Through the foundation's civic engagement goals, it seeks to realize its vision of “safe, thriving and diverse communities” for all Angelenos by creating a sense of common purpose and destiny.

Civic engagement seeks to renew the fabric of civil society. People must believe that their voice matters in issues that affect their lives. At its most fundamental level, civic engagement aspires to rekindle the flames of participatory democracy — that ordinary people can affect the outcomes of larger issues in their lives through collective engagement in problem-solving.
